CPE Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the different types of custom fields available in NetSuite (entity, item, transaction body, transaction line, CRM, and item number/other record fields) and select the appropriate field type based on data requirements.
  2. Apply best practices for configuring custom field properties — including validation, defaulting, sourcing/filtering, and access restrictions — to maintain data integrity and control visibility by role, department, or subsidiary.
  3. Distinguish between entry forms and transaction forms, and configure custom form settings (field groups, sublists, actions, and printing options) to align with specific business processes and user roles.
  4. Describe how to create and structure custom records, including establishing parent-child relationships, to extend NetSuite’s functionality for business needs not addressed by standard record types.
